MoM releases public holidays for 2024

In 2024, five public holidays fall on Friday, Sunday, or Monday. 

As the second day of the Chinese New Year falls on Sunday, the following Monday will be considered a public holiday.

  • Here are the public holidays that fall on a Monday. 
    • New Year’s Day (1 January)
    • Hari Raya Haji (17 June)
  • Meanwhile, these are the holidays on Friday.
    • Good Friday (29 March)
    • National Day (9 August)
  • One public holiday falls on a Sunday:
    • Second day of Chinese New Year (11 February)
  • The other holidays are:
    • First day of Chinese New Year (10 February)
    • Hari Raya Puasa (10 April)
    • Labour Day (1 May)
    • Vesak Day (22 May)
    • Deepavali (31 October)
    • Christmas (25 December)

Employees who will work on a public holiday should get an extra day’s salary in addition to their gross rate of pay for the day. Employees and their employers can also agree to substitute a public holiday for another one.

Additionally, employers can grant time-off-in-lieu, based on a mutually agreed number of hours for workmen earning more than S$4,500 a month, non-workmen earning over S$2,600 a month, managers, and executives.
