COEs for commercial vehicles reach record high

Singapore. The Certificate of Entitlement premiums mostly closed at a higher price in the latest bidding exercise on 8 March.

Category A cars, or those 1,600cc and below with a horsepower not higher than 130bhp, closed at S$88,000. In the last exercise, it was S$86,556.

Meanwhile, premiums for larger cars in Category B increased to S$115,501 from S$115,001.

Commercial vehicles, including buses and goods vehicles, increased S$99,101 from S$87,790.

Category C premiums also rose for the third exercise in a row. This is computed based on a revised method to reduce supply volatility.

Currently, Category C cars are now S$91,101. It is more expensive than Category A cars.

Lastly, motorcycle premiums settled at S$12,390 from S$12,189.

In the last bidding exercise, a total of 2,179 were received, with a quota of only 1,590 COEs available.

The latest bidding exercise marks the second time since the new ARF structure and preferential ARP cap started in February. Under the changes, the owners of high-end cars will end up paying more for their vehicles.
