EnterpriseSG to support over 800 SMEs for the next two years
Enterprise Singapore (EnterpriseSG) has joined hands with local polytechnics, amplifying the Centres of Innovation (COIs) to bolster support and transformation for small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
This extension brings the total network of COIs to 12, rendering specialised resources for training, advisory services, and laboratory facilities specifically tailored for SMEs.
These COIs are set to partner with over 800 Singapore SMEs within the next two years. Both centres plan on organising more than 100 innovation projects with local SMEs.
Notable among these centres are the Centre of Innovation for Built Environment – Robotics & Automation (COI BERA), the Centre of Innovation for Built Environment – Advanced Materials (COI BE-AM), and the Food Manufacturing Centre of Innovation (FMCOI).
The Research, Innovation, and Enterprise (RIE) 2025 initiative has allowed SMEs to leverage technical expertise and infrastructure provided by the COIs. Approximately 200 innovative projects spanning fields such as aquaculture, health products, and precision engineering have been propelled forward through these initiatives.
Through the backing of EnterpriseSG, businesses within these industries can harness the new COI for the built environment and the expanded manufacturing centre, utilising their resources for development, testing, and commercialization to facilitate business growth.
“Companies recognise the rewards of innovation but may find it challenging to commit significant time, effort, and expertise in the long run. Our COIs bridge this gap and enhance efficiency by serving as a one-stop hub for pooled resources and knowledge sharing,” shared Tan Boon Kim, Executive Director for Innovation Ecosystem Development of EnterpriseSG.
