January arrival numbers break post-pandemic record, but still fell below pre-pandemic figures

Singapore. The Singapore Tourism Board announced on 17 February that the Singapore International visitor arrivals went up to 931,530 in January. This is a new record since the pandemic happened.

In December 2022, international arrivals were 931,337. Despite the increase, January’s visitor arrival number is still below the 1.5 million visitors recorded in November 2019.

The nearly flat growth wasn’t surprising since January is a weaker month compared to December. Travellers usually skip going abroad during this period due to the holidays, according to Maybank economist Lee Ju Ye.

That said, Singapore’s international arrivals are expected to recover to pre-pandemic levels by 2024.
