Mature states won’t be left out in Singapore developments

Singapore. In his National Day celebration dinner speech, PM Lee said that the plans to transform the country do not just apply to new towns, but also mature estates.

PM Lee recently announced his plans to develop new towns such as Paya Lebar, the Greater Southern Waterfront, and Jurong Lake District during his National Day Rally Speech.

Around 150,000 new public and private homes are set to be built in the Paya Lebar Airbase once it has been relocated. This is roughly the size of Sengkang and Punggol. Building height restrictions around the area are also expected to be lifted to maximise the space.

“Each new estate will be more liveable, greener, and more sustainable than the previous one,” he stated.

Selected blocks at Ang Mo Kio Ave 1 are also set to be completed by the third quarter of next year.

Last month, a new PCF Sparkletots Centre was opened in the area to provide accessible and affordable childcare for families. The Ang Mo Kio town centre is also set to be redesigned and upgraded to make it more accessible to residents.
